Relegation threatened Paris St Germain will reach the French Cup final if they beat struggling Ligue Two outfit Amiens.

The semi-final draw for this year’s French Cup has ensured that the two remaining Ligue 1 sides, Paris St Germain and Lyon, will not be meeting in the semi finals, giving both sides a fantastic opportunity to make it through to the final. All eyes will be on Paris St Germain and how they perform against Amiens on Tursday night. The match has been described as almost a derby, since Amiens is located just outside of Paris. The state of the art 12,000 seat stadium in Amiens will be packed to capacity for the match.

Amiens have performed extremely well in the French Cup this year and it is remarkable that such a small team is in the semi finals at all. However, with the team facing possible relegation this year, they will have their work cut out for them if they are to beat Paris St Germain.

PSG will hope that Amara Diane, Pauleta and Luyindula will be on form and provide the goals that will see them through to the final. But, with Buengo, Giresse, Traore, Buron and Fiorese all on top form for the Ligue Two side, the Paris SG defence will also have to be alert not to concede any sloppy goals.

Also, with Amiens beating high-flying Nantes in the league, it looks like the team has stopped the rot since beating Dijon in the quarter finals and edged them a little further away from the relegation zone.

This is likely to be Paris St. Germain’s only chance of glory this season. The fallen giants are battling against relegation from Ligue One and could only manage a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Toulouse on the weekend. On paper, PSG have the players to see off a poor Ligue Two outfit in Amiens, but it’s whether the players have it in them to perform. There is some added spice to this match in that Amiens are something of poor local rivals to the glamorous PSG but it is difficult to see past Paul Le Guen’s side.
