The number one team in the world currently, according to FIFA rankings, is Argentina. They will be up against a much weaker Ecuador side, ranked 59th in the FIFA rankings, in this 2010 World Cup qualifier. The side will be without Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez due to suspension, as well as Hernan Crespo, who is not match fit.

Ecuador, who last beat Argentina in June 2005, will be looking to repeat this feat but will find the match an uphill battle against a very organized and well-synced side. The Argentines are a devastating force when playing well and dismantle opposition defenses with their tirelessly accurate passing, and Ecuador will need to dominate possession if they wish to keep in touch with the world leaders. History is not on their side, however, as they have only managed to beat Argentina three times in their last 20 encounters.
