Arsenal failed to return to the top of the Premiership after they were held to a draw at the Emirates Stadium by Middlesbrough.

Striker Jeremie Aliadiere returned to North London to haunt Arsenal when he gave Middlesbrough the lead against his former employers. Gareth Southgate’s side were four minutes away from a recording their first awya win at Arsenal since 2001 but Kolo Tore snatched a late point for the Gunners.

A long ball from keeper Mark Scwarzer was crossed in by Tuncay for strike partner Aliadiere to fire in with a first time shot from close range.

1 - 1 Kolo Toure (86 minutes)

Cesc Fabregas delivered a late corner for centre back Toure to head in an equaliser and Boro had Mido sent off two minutes later for a high foot which saw Gael Clichy stretchered off.
