Australia maintained their position at the top of their qualifying group after a hard fought victory against Iraq.

Australia took their tally to seven points from three Group A matches with a narrow victory against Iraq. Harry Kewell’s header two minutes after the break won it for the Socceroos.

1 - 0 Harry Kewell (47 minutes)

A cross from Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton was met by Kewell who headed home from 12 yards.
