Barcelona are favourites to win this season’s Copa del Rey and have home advantage in their semi final first leg tie against Valencia. Former Barcelona legend Ronald Koeman, now in charge at the Mestalla, has struggled to build on last season’s fourth placed finish and the club currently occupy ninth position in La Liga.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have cut Real Madrid’s lead at the top of the table to just two points after hammering bottom outfit Levante 5-1 on Sunday while Real succumbed to their first home defeat of the season against local rivals Getafe. Valencia are unbeaten in their last four matches in La Liga, although their last two fixtures have been draws against Recreativo and Getafe, both of whom occupy the lower half of the table. In Serbain striker Nikola Zigic they have a player who can cause problems but the 15 million euros signing from Racing Santander has struggled this season, scoring just one goal in La Liga this term. Valencia beat Real Union, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid to reach the semi finals while Barcelona beat Alcoyano, Sevilla and Villarreal.
