Barnsley pulled off a remarkable result when they scored a dramatic, late winner at Anfield to knock 2006 winners Liverpool out of the FA Cup in the last round. That unexpected feat has granted the Tykes their second big payday of the competition when they host current holders Chelsea at Oakwell.

Barnsley are currently in the lower reaches of the Championship and are just seven points off the relegation zone. Grant’s side have lost three times on the road this season, winning nine and drawing the other two.

While Barnsley achieved arguably the result of the season when they beat Liverpool in the last round, this match is unlikely to see anything other than a Chelsea victory. There have been whispers of discontent among the players at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Avram Grant but has not been reflected with results on the pitch. Chelsea have seen off opponents such as QPR, Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town in previous rounds, all of which they were expected to beat and they should secure a place in the semi finals with another victory at Oakwell. The Blues destroyed Barnsley 6-0 at Oakwell when the pair met in the Premiership in the 1997/98 season.
