Portuguese side Benfica sneaked a  victory against Bundesliga opponents Nurnberg, with veteran midfielder Rui Costa setting up the winning goal.

Benfica were fortunate to come away with the victory, as striker Ariza Makukula’s effort should have been saved two minutes before the break.

Former Sevilla striker Makukula’s straight down the middle shot from 20 yards bounced over Nurnberg keeper Jaromir Blazek’s leg and into the net.
