Birmingham City need to take something from their match against Liverpool if they are to stave off relegation this season.

Birmingham City have the opportunity to collect three precious points against a Liverpool side that may have one eye on next week’s Champions League second leg against Chelsea. City suffered a 5-1 humiliation last Sunday against bitter rivals Aston Villa, a result which left them in the bottom three with just three more games to play.

This game would be a chance for the Norwegian defender John Arne Riise, to redeem himself after his injury time own goal gifted Chelsea a draw and precious away goal in their Champions League battle.

A win for Rafa Benitez’s side would put them two points behind Arsenal, who do not play until Monday night, while a victory for Birmingham could see them edge out of the relegation zone.
