Blackburn Rovers swept aside relegation-threatened Bolton Wanderers thanks to two penalties converted by Benni McCarthy.
Following a narrow lead at half-time, Mark Hughes’ side scored three times against Wanderers, despite the Trotters equalising shortly after the break.
1 - 0 Benni McCarthy (penalty 25 minutes)
Defender Gretar Steinsson was adudged to have fouled David Dunn and McCarthy scored from the resulting penalty.
1 - 1 Kevin Davies (50 minutes)
Davies hauled Bolton level when he fired in from close range following a lofted ball into the box from Ivan Campo.
2 - 1 Benni McCarthy (penalty 67 minutes)
Dunn was fouled in the box again, this time by Gary Cahill and McCarthy again converted from the penalty spot.
3 - 1 David Bentley (71 minutes)
Dunn delivered a cross into the far post for Bentley to head in Rovers’ third.
4 - 1 Morten Gamst Pedersen (90 minutes)
Pedersen netted with the last kick of the game when he converted a cross from substitute Jason Roberts.
