South American group leaders Paraguay unbeaten run came to an end as they crashed to a heavy defeat in Bolivia on Wednesday night.
Two goals in as many minutes sent Bolivia to their first victory of the campaign as group leaders Paraguay saw their lead at the top cut to just two points.1 - 0 Joaquin Botero (23 minutes)
Bolivar striker Botero latched onto a long pass and chipped goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla to break the deadlock.
2 - 0 Ronald Garcia (25 minutes)
Bolivar team mate Garcia added a second two minutes later with a long range effort which bobbled over the goalkeeper.
2 - 1 Roque Santa Cruz (66 minutes)
The sought after Santa Cruz halved the deficit with a header mid way through the second half.
3 - 1 Joaquin Botero (70 minutes)
Botero added his second with 20 minutes remaining when he hammered home a loose ball after Bobadilla failed to deal with a long range effort from Ronald Guttirez.
4 - 1 Marcelo Martins (76 minutes)
Shakhtar Donetsk striker Martins struck a fourth for Bolivia directly from a free kick.
4 - 2 Nelson Valdez (82 minutes)
Borussia Dortmund striker Valdez pulled a goal back for Paraguay with seven minutes remaining but by then it was too late.
