If ever Leeds United want to reclaim their respect as one of the football giants in English soccer, they have to win the play offs. They have been relegated from the Premier League in 2003/04. Whilst Carlisle United seek to secure themselves a place in the Premier League, the last time they played in the top flight in 1975.

With this being the first time Leeds’ manager, Gary McAllister, takes the team into the Football League play offs, he has a lot to prove to his critics. Leeds have done exceptionally well to make the playoffs, after having 15 points deducted from them at the beginning of the season.

The first leg saw something of a shock where Carlisle recorded a 2-1 win at Elland Road and Leeds need to focus more on the second leg if they are to score the two goals at Brunton Park required to send them into the play off final.

John Ward’s team are all ready for the second clash of the Championship play offs and are hoping that Leeds’ diversified focus on the game and the court claim, would be an added advantage to the team. This team has a good history against Leeds United and will be hoping for the statistics to count in their favour.
