Celtic go into this match full of confidence after winning their last five league fixtures and last seven in all competitions. Gordon Strachan’s side have won 5-1 in their last two matches, last weekend’s visit to Aberdeen and their Scottish FA Cup fifth round visit to Kilmarnock.

In August, Celtic scored five against Hearts without reply although Stephen Frail’s side have enjoyed the better of the last two meetings. Two late goals from Andrius Velicka saw Hearts knock Celtic out of the Scottish League Cup quarter final at Celtic Park in October and the Lithuanian striker was on target again when the pair drew 1-1 at Tynecastle in December. Scott McDonald looked to have done enough for Celtic when he scored with 17 minutes left but Velicka’s stoppage time penalty earned the Jam Tarts a point.

Hearts may be in the lower reaches of the Scottish Premier at present, but they are not in bad form. They have won their last three league fixtures, beating Gretna, Aberdeen and Hibernian and appear to have turned a corner following a winter slump where they lost six league fixtures in succession.

Celtic are the form team and are still unbeaten at home in the Scottish Premier this season. They demolished Hearts at Parkhead earlier in the season and while Stephen Frail’s side seem to have put their poor form behind them, they have lost six out of 10 on the road.
