Western Conference side Colorado Rapids hammered Eastern Conference strugglers New York Red Bulls on Friday night.

Colorado Rapids won their first match in emphatic fashion when they beat New York Red Bulls 4-0 and took their incredible tally of Independence Day wins to 11 in 13 matches.

1 - 0 Tam McManus (24 minutes)

Former Dunfermline Athletic striker McManus opened the scoring when he met a cross from Colin Clark and stabbed the ball in from close range.

2 - 0 Mehdi Ballouchy (36 minutes)

Moroccan midfielder Ballouchy scored his first of the season when he turned in a ball from Conor Casey from six yards.

3 - 0 Colin Clark (49 minutes)

Clark got on the scoresheet himself four minutes after the break when he smashed in Colorado’s third from a tight angle.

4 - 0 Omar Cummings (68 minutes)

Jamaican striker Cummings collected a pass from McManus, ghosted past a defender and slotted home from 12 yards with the entire goal to aim for.
