Turkey beat Croatia 3-1 on penalties after a dramatic last few minutes of extra time to set up a semi final clash against Germany.
Croatia had the better chances in what was a very close match, with Ivica Olic blasting against the crossbar from a few yards out but Turkey went close in extra time when Tuncay Sanli saw an effort creep inches wide. Ivan Klasnic thought he had won it with a header in the final minute of extra time but Semih Senturk lashed in an equaliser a minute into added time to set up a penalty shoot out.
1 - 0 Ivan Klasnic (119 minutes)
Turkey goalkeeper Rustu Recber was caught out of position and Werder Bremen striker Klasnic headed in a cross from Luka Modric from close range.
1 - 1 Semih Senturk (120 minutes)
A long ball from Recber fell to Fenerbahce striker Senturk who smashed the ball in from just inside the box to take the match to penalties.
Penalty Shoot Out: Croatia 1 Turkey 3
Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic both missed the target for Croatia while Recber saved the deciding penalty from Mladen Petric.
Luka Modric delivers a ball across the six yard box and Ivica Olic hits the crossbar from close range after 20 minutes.
Galatasaray midfielder Mehmet Topal shoots wide from long range shortly before the half time break.
Schalke 04 youngster Ivan Rakitic crossed in but an Olic header went wide of the post.
