Selhurst Park was the site of an incredible massacre last week when Crystal Palace thrashed Burnley 5-0. It went downhill for Burnley right from the beginning and the match showed the strength with which the Eagles have been playing in the past few weeks.

Ben Watson, Victor Moses and Tom Soares all scored great goals in the first half and these were followed up by a further two goals in the second half. While many at the beginning of the season saw only doom and gloom for Crystal Palace, they are now in the playoffs and look set to return to the premier league.

All eyes will be on Lee Trundle this week as they look for justifications for the £1 million transfer fee that was paid last summer for the Swansea forward. While City manager Gary Johnson may not have been certain that he got his money’s worth from Trundle’s performance so far in the season, but with his excellent play last week inspired the team to their first victory in five matches. Trundle himself has said that he hopes in the playoff to show skill to the fans and make up for a disappointing season.

Crystal Palace are in great formand have won four of their last five matches. Their 2-1 defeat at Hull at the end of April was their only defeat in their last 12 matches home and away as Neil Warnock’s side gatecrashed the play-offs after hovering around the relegation zone earlier in the season. They beat Bristol City 2-0 at Selhurst Park in January and the Robins are not in the best shape, winning just two of their last 11 matches. Gary Johnson’s side may have regained confidence at just the right time with a 3-0 victory against Preston on the weekend but Palace, as the form side, have to be backed at home.
