A hat trick from Yakubu contributed to an Everton rout at Goodison Park, where they beat SK Brann 6-1 on the night and 8-1 on aggregate.

Everton were favourites to progress to the last 16 following their 2-0 furst leg victory in Norwary. However, the Toffees put on a fan-pleasing display where they scored six goals to set up a tie against Fiorentina.

1 - 0 Yakubu (36 minutes)

Former Middlesbrough striker Yakubu broke the deadlock nine minutes before half-time with a curling effort following a back heel from Tim Cahill

2 - 0 Andy Johnson (41 minutes)

Johnson added a second before the break with a low shot from the edge of the box.

3 - 0 Yakubu (54 minutes)

Yakubu turned sharply in the box before firing low into the corner of the net nine minutes into the second half.

3 - 1 Petter Vaagen Moen (60 minutes)

Brann scored what was to be a consolation when Moen fired in a free kick from distance which appeared to deceive goalkeeper Tim Howard.

4 - 1 Mikel Arteta (70 minutes)

The Spanish midfielder hit a long range effort which took a defelction on its way into the goal.

5 - 1 Yakubu (71 minutes)

The Nigerian striker completed his hat trick when he bundled the ball over the line from close range.

6 - 1 Andy Johnson (90 minutes)

Johnson added a sixth in stoppage time with an effort from 25 yards out.
