World Champions Italy will want to shake off their poor start to this tournament when they come up against Group C minnows Romania. The Romanians will want to continue their good fortune against world-class sides after their 0-0 draw against France.

The Italians opened Euro 2008 with disastrous results as they were hammered 3-0 by an inspired Dutch team on Monday night. They struggled to hit their stride and played like a segregated team for most of the match. With the exception of Pirlo, who was tireless in his efforts, there was no one to who stood out or took control of the game.

The Azzurri will need to regroup and put in a solid performance against Romania ahead of their crucial matchup against World Cup runners-up France. Expect them to come out firing in this match, they have much to prove.

Romania will be satisfied with their first performance and must be happy with the point they earned against France. Their attack lacked spark and creativity in a rather dull match, but they did display solid teamwork and kept their shape well to deny the French opportunities to put the game beyond them. This result means that Romania have a reasonable chance of qualification if they can produce results against the Netherlands or Italy, so look for a fired up side against the Italians.
