Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by South African opponents Kaizer Chiefs in Cape Town on Saturday afternoon.

A strong United side, which began with six players who started last season’s Champions League final, were made to look ordinary by the determined Kaizer Chiefs. Chris Eagles made the most of a rare start to equalise after the Red devils had fallen behind to a penalty.

1 - 0 Jonathan Quartey (16 minutes)

Ghanaian defender Quartey slotted home the penalty after Gary Neville fouled Siphiwe Tshabalala in the box.

1 - 1 Chris Eagles (59 minutes)

Midfielder Eagles headed home a cross from Carlos Tevez which took a deflection off Jimmy Tau on its way in.
