Liverpool completed a century of European victories at Anfield after leaving it late to defeat Serie A champions Inter Milan.

It was a memorable night for both Liverpool and captain Steven Gerrard, who’s goal in stoppage time was his fiftieth in Europe.

Inter were not helped by Marco Materazzi’s sending off after just 30 minutes.

1 - 0 Dirk Kuyt (85 minutes)

A cross from Jermaine Pennant found it’s way to Kuyt who volleyed at the far post, but his shot took a substantial deflection off Maicon and bounced over goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

2 - 0 Steven Gerrard (90 minutes)

Gerrard netted in his fifth consecutive Champions League match and took his personal tally to a half century in Europe with a low shot from the corner of the 18 yard box which crept in off the far post.
