Liverpool ended a run of four visits to Bolton Wanderers without victory with a resounding 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon. A own goal from Jussi Jaaskelainen and then strikes from Ryan Babel and Fabio Aurelio temporarily lifted the Reds to fourth in the table before they were overtaken later in the afternoon by Everton. The win was the second successive match Rafa Benitez’s side had scored three goals in one match.

West Ham United found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 home drubbing by Chelsea on Saturday, a result which sees them tenth in the table but still with a chance of European qualification next season. The Hammers have been inconsistent of late and have won just three of their last seven matches wuth two victories coming against relegation strugglers Fulham. Away from home this season, Alan Curbishley’s side have won six, but lost five and drawn the other two.

Liverpool have an excellent recent record against the Hammers and have won the last six Premiership meetings at Anfield. Last season saw Daniel Agger and Peter Crouch cancel out an opening goal from Bobby Zamora and the last four meetings have seen the Reds win comfortably, if not convincingly, by scorelines of 2-0 or 2-1.

Liverpool have a run of Premiership matches with no European distractions and have to ensure they put points on the board if they are to beat Everton to fourth spot at the end of the season.
