Manchester United struck a late equaliser against Lyon and the away goal will see them favourites to progress to quarter finals of this year’s Champions League.

Karim Benzema’s stock rose again when he put Lyon ahead early in the second half but Carlos Tevez rescued a draw three minutes from full time during Ryan Giggs’ 100th Champions League match.

The 20 year old striker turned and fired past Edwin van der Sar from the edge of the box.

1 -1 Carlos Tevez (87 minutes)

A loose ball in the box deflected off striker Fred and into the path of the unmarked Tevez who smashed in from close range.
