Everton replaced rivals Liverpool in fourth spot with an important away victory at Manchester City, themselves in the hunt for a Champions League place.
Sven Goran Eriksson’s side were poor on Monday night, not registering a shot on target until the final five minutes while Everton were clinical in the first half, scoring two goals eight minutes apart.
