Manchester United are favourites to reach the quarter finals of the Champions league after securing a late draw in Lyon. Highly rated United target Karim Benzema appeared to have given the French champions a first leg advantage when he put them ahead nine minutes after the break but Carlos Tevez rescued the Reds with three minutes to go. Lyon, despite challenging for a seventh successive French league title, have shown they are susceptible defensively and this was evident when a poorly dealt with ball in the box fell to an unmarked Tevez who smashed in from close range.

French champions Lyon increased their lead at the top of Ligue One when they defeated Lille 1-0 on Saturday. Brazilian striker Fred, who haplessly set up the equaliser for Carlos Tevez in their first leg encounter with United, scored the decider in the first half to see them edge a little further away from challenging Bordeaux.
