Middlesbrough 0 Cardiff City 2 Highlights

Cardiff City continued the trend of Championship sides dumping out Premiership opposition when they beat Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough made a decent start to the game but when Peter Whittingham scored a contentuous goal inside the opening 10 minutes there was only going to be one winner. Boro were not in the game after Roger Johnson added a second and a chorus of boos met the home side at both half and full time as City marched onto the semi finals.

0 - 1 Peter Whittingham (nine minutes)

Former Aston Villa midfielder Whittingham picked up a loose ball in the Middlesbrough box and curled it into the top right hand corner to give City an early advantage.

0 - 2 Roger Johnson (23 minutes)

Whittingham delivered a pinpoint free kick to the far corner to allow an unmarked Johnson to head City into the semi finals from close range.
