Russia shocked the highly fancied Netherlands with two goals in extra time to win the match 3-1.
Russia pulled off the upset of Euro 2008 when they opened the scoring early in the second half and the Netherlands struggled to find an equaliser until four minutes before the end. With the extra time yielding no further goals and another penalty shoot out looking likely, Russia scored after 112 and 116 minutes to dump Marco Van Basten’s side out of the tournament.
