Los Angeles Galaxy slipped to second place as they were held to a draw by bottom of the Eastern Conference New York Red Bulls.

Landon Donovan rescued a point for Los Angeles Galaxy with an equaliser two minutes into stoppage time after it looked like the struggling Red Bulls would pull off an unlikely victory. The match was played in front of 46,754 fans, the largest attendance in the MLS this year.

0 - 1 Carlos Ruiz (29 minutes)

Edson Buddle took the ball around defender Jeff Parke and crossed in for Ruiz to head home his first goal in his second spell for Galaxy, following three years at FC Dallas.

1 - 1 Dave van den Bergh (35 minutes)

The former Utrecht midfielder beat Steve Cronin inside his near post with a low shot from 35 yards out to equalise 10 minutes before the break.

2 - 1 Juan Pablo Angel (71 minutes)

Angel scored his fourth of the season when he left Greg Vanney for dead and chipped the ball clinically past goalkeeper Cronin from six yards out.

2 - 2 Landon Donovan (90 minutes)

Donovan equalised with what appeared to be a harmless ball delivered into the box which deceived keeper Jon Conway and went in at the far post.
