Nurnberg 2 Benfica 2 Highlights

Benfica scored two goals in the last two minutes to level with Nurnberg on the night and progress to the last 16 of the UEFA Cup 3-2 on aggregate

Nurnberg looked set to progress after going 2-0 in Germany, wiping out the 1-0 deficit from the first leg. However, two dramatic, late goals saw the Portuguese side sneak into the next round.

1 - 0 Angelos Charisteas (58 minutes)

Charisteas ran onto a looping through ball and volleted through the legs of Benfica goalkeeper Quim.

2 - 0 Ivan Saenko (65 minutes)

Saenko netted Nurnberg’s second goal in seven minutes when he latched onto a poor backpass and chipped in the second goal.

2 - 1 Oscar Cardozo (88 minutes)

Poor defending gave Benfica a glimmer of hope when an attempted clearance rebounded off Jan Koller and Cardozo scored with a bouncing shot.

2 - 2 Angel Fabian Di Maria (90 minutes)

Argentina youngster Di Maria won it at the death when he rounded keeper Jaromir Blazek and tapped in to make it 3-2 on aggregate.
