Paraguay went three points clear at the top of the table with a convincing win against struggling Brazil.
Paraguay made their home advantage count on Sunday evening when they defeated Brazil 2-0, inflicting a first qualifying defeat on Dunga’s side. Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz opened the scoring in the first half and Salvador Cabanas sealed victory shortly after the break. Paraguay were reduced to 10 men two minutes into the second half when Dario Veron was sent off.

Santa Cruz scored from a flicked ball by Cabanas after 26 minutes to give Paraguay a surprise lead.
2 - 0 Salvador Cabanas (49 minutes)
Santa Cruz turned provider when his cross-shot was parried by goalkeeper Julio Cesar into the path of Club America striker Cabanas who scored from close range.
