Colombia edged into third place in the South American qualifying zone after a draw in Peru.

Colombia survived a late rally by Peru to ensure they came away with a share of the points. Hugo Rodallega gave the Colombians an early lead but Juan Carlos Marino levelled for Peru five minutes before the break.

Peru goalkeeper Leao Butron failed to hold a bouncing effort from Fabian Vargas and Necaxa striker Rodallega put away the rebound.

1 - 1 Juan Carlos Marino (40 minutes)

Hercules midfielder Marino scrambled in a cross from veteran campaigner Nolberto Solano five minutes before half time. Solano himself had a volley cleared off the line later in the match.
