Portsmouth lifted the FA Cup after a somewhat fortuitous one-goal victory against Championship side Cardiff City.

After an even first half, Nigerian striker Kanu netted the winner what proved to be the winner when he prodded a loose ball over the line seven minutes before the break.

After earlier hitting the post, Kanu was on target when he poked in a loose ball from close range after City keeper Peter Enckelman poorly dealt with a John Utaka cross.
