Germany were excellent in their quarter final victory over Portugal and became the first side to secure their place in the Euro 2008 semi finals.

In one of the best matches of the tournament, it was Germany that emerged victorious. Two goals in four minutes gave Joachim Low’s side a commanding lead but to their credit, Portugal battled to the end.

0 - 1 Bastain Schweinsteiger (22 minutes)

Bayern Munich midfielder Schweinsteiger broke the deadlock when he slid in a cross from club team mate Lukas Podolski.

0 - 2 Mirosav Klose (26 minutes)

Schweinsteiger turned provider for the second, when his curling free kick was met by the head of another club team mate, striker Klose.

1 - 2 Nuno Gomes (41 minutes)

Ronaldo’s effort from close range was blocked by goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, but Gomes picked up the loose ball to turn and shoot past the outstretched Christoph Metzelder.

1 - 3 Michael Ballack (62 minutes)

Captain Ballack looked to put the match beyond Portugal when he headed home yet another pinpoint free kick from Schweinsteiger.

2 - 3 Helder Postiga (87 minutes)

But, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Postiga set up a tense finish when he headed home a cross from fellow substitute Nani three minutes from the end.
