Rangers won 10 Scottish Premier matches in a row on Wednesday night when they demolished Hearts 4-0 at Tynecastle. Former Nottingham Forest striker Jean Claude Darcheville scored twice before half time and UEFA Cup hero Nacho Novo added a double of his own after the break to maintain a four point gap at the top of the league. A home game against out-of-form Aberdeen gives them the perfect opportunity to extend their lead and make it 11 wins in a row.

Aberdeen are falling down the league after failing to win in any of their last seven matches. Their 1-1 draw against Motherwell on Wednesday night ended a run of five straight defeats as the Dons appeared to be saving their best performances for the various Cup competitions they were involved in. Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-0 at Ibrox in September and have an excellent home record against the Dons. Over the years the Gers have dished out some hammerings against Jimmy Calderwood’s side, such as 3-0 last season, 5-0 in the 2004/05 and 1999/00 seasons. Aberdeen have not won at Ibrox since the 1991/92 season when they registered a 2-0 victory.

Rangers have an exceptional record against Aberdeen at Ibrox and have not been beaten by the Dons since the 1991/92 campaign. Walter Smith’s side come into this match off the back of 10 straight league victories and the only thing that could prevent win number 11 is their UEFA Cup last 16 first leg encounter against Werder Bremen next week.
