Real Madrid stormed eight points clear of second placed Barcelona at the top of La Liga after thrashing Valladolid 7-0 on Sunday evening.Real Madrid were in no danger of losing their 100% home record in the league against a mid-table Valladolid side that found themselves 5-0 down at half-time. Real were without top goal scorer Ruud van Nistelrooy and lost Robinho after 15 minutes but still ran up their biggest win of the season.

Bernd Schuster’s team now boasts a home record which reads - played: 11, won: 11, goals scored: 33, goals conceded: nine.

1 - 0 Julio Baptista (nine minutes)

The former Arsenal striker latched onto a through pass from Arjen Robben to slot home from inside the area.

2 - 0 Gonzalez Raul (31 minutes)

Raul played a one-two with Guti before rounding Valladolid keeper Sergio Asenjo to double Real’s lead.

3 - 0 Arjen Robben (33 minutes)

Guti was at the heart of the third goal two minutes later when he sent Robben through to beat the goalkeeper at his near post.

4 - 0 Gonzalez Raul (penalty 39 minutes)

Goal scorers Robben and Baptista combined but the Brazilian striker was fouled in the area by Asenjo, enabling Raul to score his second of the game from the penalty spot.

5 - 0 Jose Maria Guti (44 minutes)

Guti was rewarded for his contribution with his first goal a minute before the break. Royston Drenthe lofted a through ball for the midfielder to finish coolly from 12 yards.

6 - 0 Jose Maria Guti (62 ninutes)

Robben set up Guti for his second and the Spanish international saw a miss-hit effort go in off the right hand post.

7 - 0 Royston Drenthe (80 minutes)

Guti was instrumental in the final goal when he headed down for Drenthe to fire in from close range 10 minutes before the end.
