This is the second leg of the League two play-off semi finals, where Rochdale could use their home ground and fans as an added advantage to win the game against Darlington. Quakers boss Dave Penney says much of their success is owed greatly to their fans that came out to the game in numbers. The Quakers, after their victory, will come to the second leg, in Spotland as the favourites to secure themselves a place in the finals of the play-offs.

He does, however, say that they will approach the game as if they had not won the first leg, in order for them to increase their chances of playing the play-off finals. Penney also does not put away the fact that Rochdale is a competent team that cannot be written off before the final whistle blows. The team, just like the coach, is adamant that they will be travelling back home after the game as winners. “It won’t be easy, but it can be done…” they all seem to say.

It seems as though Rochdale striker, Lee Thorpe would be missing out o second leg game as he waiting an operation after he was arm wrestling with Rene Howe on the bus to Darlington. Rochdale manager, Keith Hill, is adamant that his side is the more ready against Darlington to play in League one. He has vowed to prove such a statement when the two sides meet on Saturday. Hill has also asked the fans to come out in numbers since they will not be going home disappointed.

Rochdale went into the first leg as the form side but Darlington won it 2-1 thanks to a stoppage time goal from Ian Miller. Jason Kennedy gave the Quakers a first half lead but Dale looked to have earned a draw when Chris Dagnall levelled with 20 minutes left. Dagnall’s away goal could prove costly for Darlington and Rochdale beat the Quakers 3-1 on New Years Day, with all three goals arriving before half time. Before the first leg defeat, Keith Hill’s side won seven out of 10 and will be expected to claim a place in the play off final.
