Roma cut Inter Milan’s lead at the top of Serie A to nine points with a controversial 1-0 victory against fourth placed Fiorentina.

Roma secured a narrow victory thanks to a Cicinho goal but there was a dispute about whether it should stand as Francesco Totti was standing in an offside position in front of goalkeeper Sebastien Frey. Cicinho was shown a red card late on in the match.

The Brazilian full back grabbed the winner nine minutes into the second half, striking home from six yards with a glut of players in the box.
