Russia pulled off a surprise victory against Sweden to reach the quarter final stage at their expense.
Russia were a class apart against Sweden and could have scored far more than the two goals registered on the night. A goal in each half from Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin sent Guus Hiddink’s side through to the last eight.
1 - 0 Roman Pavlyuchenko (24 minutes)
Aleksandr Anyukov set up Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko for a close-range finish.
2 - 0 Andrei Arshavin (50 minutes)
Arshavin began and finished a sweeping move to slide in a pass from CSKA Moscow midfielder Yuri Zhirkov five minutes into the second half.
Pavlyuchenko hits the crossbar 10 minutes before half time.
