Scottish Premier League side Rangers will face Bundesliga contenders Schalke 04 in this interesting matchup between two clubs who have enjoyed success on the domestic and European fronts in the past season. The German side is the lesser known of the two sides, but has been in great form of late and should provide Rangers with a stiff challenge despite the exhibitional nature of the fixture.

Schalke 04, who finished 3rd in the Bundesliga last season, also had a successful campaign last year, making the quarterfinals of the Champions League after impressively beating FC Porto on penalties in the second round of the competition.

After their heavy defeat at the hands of rivals Werder Bremen, the board decided to sack manager Mirko Slomka, and this match will be a good opportunity for the new coaching staff to come to terms with their new team.
