Fenerbahce became the first Turkish side to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League after beating Sevilla in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

Sevilla looked to go through after scoring two goals in the opening nine minutes, turning the aggregate score to 4-3 in their favour. However, it was Fener who were victorious after scoring a late goal to tie the game at 5-5 on aggregate and forcing a penalty shoot-out in which they won 3-2.

1 - 0 Daniel Alves (six minutes)

The Brazilian defender opens the scoring with a 30 yard free kick after Selcuk Sahin fouled Seydou Keita.

2 - 0 Seydou Keita (nine minutes)

Goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was again beaten from long range, this time by Mali midfielder Keita to give Sevilla a 4-3 aggregate lead.

2 - 1 Deivid (21 minutes)

Brazilian striker Deivid netted from just inside the penalty area after meeting a corner taken from the left hand side.

3 - 1 Frederic Kanoute (41 minutes)

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Kanoute restored Sevilla’s two goal advantage when he controlled an Alves ball on his chest and volleyed in.

3 - 2 Deivid (80 minutes)

With 10 minutes left, Deivid forced extra time with his fourth goal of the Champions league campaign. The Brazilian saw his initial effort come back off the post but he followed up the rebound from close range.
