Stockport County could record a hat-trick of wins against Rochdale if they beat them at Wembley on Monday afternoon.

Stockport County edged into the League Two play off final when they beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 on aggregate in the semis but will be brimming with confidence ahead of the clash against Rochdale. Jim Gannon’s side have beaten Dale twice in the league this seaso, 2-1 at Spotland in November and 2-0 at Edgeley Park in March.
The Hatters claim they owe a lot of their success to their fans, who always come out in numbers and have promised not to disappoint them in the final clash against Rochdale. They will be however, playing without Dave Perkins, who had scored in their semi final match against Darlington. Amid such a crisis, the Rochdale camp is all up for a fight to secure them a place in League one next season. They won the last game to Darlington 5-4 on penalties to secure themselves a final match against Stockport County.

The bookmakers are having trouble splitting the two sides, with both looking fairly evenly matched. Rochdale went into the play offs as the form side, winning seven of their remaining 10 league matches but Stockport chalked up 10 victories in their last 14 games. Jim Gannon’s side may have the edge, having beaten Rochdale twice in the league this season and will certainly know what to expect from Keith Hill’s team. Both sides sneaked into the final at the expense of their semi final opponents, but it may be the Hatters that edge the final in what should be a close encounter.
