Switzerland became the first side to be eliminated from Euro 2008 after losing to Turkey in the final minute of the game.

Being dumped out of Euro 2008 as co-hosts after just two matches will be difficult for Switzerland to take, especially after taking the lead against Turkey and losing it in the final minute of the match. Hakan Yakin gave the Swiss a first half lead but it was Arda Turan’s defelcted shot in injury time which ended the match in heartbreak for Kobi Kuhn’s side.

Young Boys midfielder Yakin tapped into an empty net early on after Eren Derdiyok played the ball across the penalty area.

Fenerbache striker Senturk nodded in a cross from fellow front man Nihat Kahveci to draw Turkey level in the second half.

1 - 2 Arda Turan (90 minutes)

Galatasaray midfielder Turan broke Swiss hearts when he cut inside and scored from inside the area, although his effort took a deflection off Patrick Muller on the way in.

Nihat heads the ball against the post after 29 minutes.
