Switzerland ensured they did not finish bottom of Group A after a final match victory against quarter finalists Portugal.

Co-hosts Switzerland bowed out of Euro 2008 on a positive note when they beat a weakened Portugal side 2-0. Young Boys striker Hakan Yakin scored twice in the second half which took his overall tally to three goals but Portugal twice hit the woodwork.

1 - 0 Hakan Yakin (71 minutes)

Midfielder Yakin finally broke the deadlock with 19 minutes left when he slotted home through the legs of Portugal goalkeeper Ricardo.

2 - 0 Hakan Yakin (penalty, 83 minutes)

Fernando Meira was adjudged to have fouled Tranquillo Barnetta in the box and Yakin struck home the resulting spot kick.

Pepe hits the cross bar after 18 minutes with a shot from inside the penalty area.

Nani hits the post shortly after the break with a low effort from inside the box.
