Group A winners Portugal look set to ring the changes against already-eliminated Switzerland on Sunday evening.

Co-hosts Switzerland will be playing for pride and fan appreciation in their final game of Euro 2008 against Group A leaders Portugal, but will find it rough going playing opposite such intimidating opponents. The Swiss have not won a game as of yet in the tournament, in fact they have not even managed to score a goal, much to the disappointment of their countrymen who have come out in the thousands to support them.

After losing their captain Alexander Frei to injury, many had written Switzerland off for their matchup against Turkey on Wednesday. However, the Swiss fought valiantly with Eren Derdiyok and Yakin leading the way up front, with Hakan Yakin putting the home team ahead in the 32nd minute, rekindling hopes of qualifying for the next round.

Unfortunately, their resurgence was short-lived as Turkey equalized through Senturk in the 57th minute, then followed this up with a stunning finish in extra time to steal victory away from the Swiss team. The loss sealed their fate at the bottom of the table and they will find it hard to muster any motivation for their upcoming match.

Portugal on the other hand are flying high, lead by Manchester United wonder kid Christiano Ronaldo. He has been involved in four out of Portugal’s five goals so far this Euro 2008, scoring one. He was instrumental in their 3-1 demolition of the Czech Republic and will be looking to clinch top spot in Group A against Switzerland. They will be tough to beat in their current form.

A difficult match to predict because neither side have much to play for. Switzerland will want to go out on a high-note but it depends on the motivation of individual players while Portugal manager Felipe Scolari is set to field a host of fringe players.
