After losing their opening matches, both Switzerland and Turkey will want to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive by winning this match-up.

Hosts Switzerland will feel somewhat cheated by their loss to the Czech Republic in the Euro 2008 opening match, after two incidences in which the Czech captain may have handled the ball in the penalty area (both incidents were judged to be ball-to-hand by the referee).
