UEFA Cup maestro Juande Ramos faces his toughest test in the competition this season when Spurs take on PSV Eindhoven. Since Ramos’ appointment, Tottenham are unbeaten in the UEFA Cup, following a first match defeat by Getafe when Martin Jol was still in charge. Since then, Spurs have recorded group stage victories against Hapeol Tel-Aviv, Aab and an away draw at Anderlecht. They edged past Slavia Prague in the last round, winning 3-2 on aggregate.

Spurs are chasing their second piece of silverware of the season after winning the Carling Cup at the expense of Chelsea a fortnight ago but have not prepared for this match in the best manner, receiving a 4-1 hammering by struggling Birmingham City last weekend. It seems mid-table Spurs have written off their Premiership season and will concentrate their efforts on Europe with the Carling Cup already in the trophy cabinet.

PSV Eindhoven entered the UEFA Cup in the last round after a Champions League exit earlier in the season. Just two victories against CSKA Moscow in six group matches saw the Dutch club finish four points behind second-placed Fenerbahce and so UEFA Cup football awaited them. The 2002 competition winners brushed aside Helsingborg 4-1 on aggregate in the last round and will relish taking on Spurs.
