Venezuela kept within touching distance of the leading pack with a 1-1 draw in Uruguay, a result which puts them fifth in thye table.

Venezuela went fifth in the table, occupying the final qualification place and moves two points ahead of nearest rivals Uruguay after earning a draw in Montevideo. Venezuela fell behind to an early goal but earned a point with an equaliser nine minutes after the break.

Captain Lugano gave Uruguay the lead when the Fenerbahce defender turned in a corner from close range.

1 - 1 Ronald Vargas (56 minutes)

Club Brugge midfielder Vargas ensured the points were shared when Uruguay goalkeeper Fabian Carini failed to hold onto Juan Arango’s free kick and Vargas fired in the rebound.
