Watford couldn’t be more happy with Tommy Smith at the moment, who’s goal last Sunday got the team through to the play offs. It is no wonder that he was awarded player of the season. The team is training at Vicarage Road and is determined to deliver some payback to Hull City in the play off on Sunday.

If things go right for the team, they will be able to regain the honour that they lost when they were defeated 3-0 at Hull in March. Tommy Smith said the goal he scored last weekend, which secured a 1-1 draw at Blackpool, was probably the most important of his career, but a goal against Hull this week would beat it by far.

Hull however will have some ground to make up when they meet up with Watford in the semi final. Their last match, against Ipswich on Sunday ended in defeat. Manager Phil Brown has gone public stating “we have to pick ourselves up” ahead of the two legged semi final that the side now faces against Watford.

He went on to say that, “We play Watford and then hopefully we have a trip to Wembley. The door is still open for the Premier League.” That may be the case but if Hull City is to have any chance of beating the Hornets in the play offs they will really have to up their game and regain the form which saw them win six out of eight prior to last weekend’s defeat.
